The BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Economic Research Institute (Ivie) have been making regular estimates of Spanish capital stock for more than a decade. Due to the calculation method employed, database estimates for the capital stock in housing have to date excluded any reference to the value of the associated land. However a deeper understanding of this material requires data that reflect not only the value of residential properties but also of the land on which they are built.
This new database enlarges on the information contained in Capital stock and services in Spain and their territorial distribution (1964-2007), providing the interested public with capital stock in housing series running from 1990 to 2007, land value included. It also looks back at changes in the total housing stock and the associated prices. Data are displayed with a breakdown by region, province and social class.
