The BBVA Foundation presents the results of its “International Study on Scientific Culture”, based on a wide-ranging survey as regards both sample size (1,500 interviewees in each of the 11 countries analyzed) and the variety of issues broached. Surveys of public perceptions of science have a tradition dating back to the mid 1980s, first in the United States and then in Europe.

DESCRIPTION

Their purpose is to assess citizens’ familiarity with and understanding of science, and the different lenses with which they view it. This BBVA Foundation study not only reproduces the main measures and indicators used to date, it also adds some new measures into the mix along with conceptual and metrical innovations.
