DESCRIPTION
Specific objectives are as follows: to establish a typology of Europeans’ religious identities; to analyse the structure of evaluative consensus and dissent; to study the interdependence of moral and religious identities; to explore the correlation between Europeans’ moral and social positions; and, finally, to reflect on the cultural conflicts associated to Europe’s moral fragmentation and polarisation.
The empirical data used for this purpose come from five major European social research projects: the World Values Survey (WVS), the European Values Survey (EVS), the Eurobarometers, surveys from the International Social Surveys Programme (ISSP) and the European Social Survey (ESS). Finally, multivariable statistical analysis techniques provide the best fit for the categorical, nominal and qualitative content of the variables employed.
