This project seeks to broaden our knowledge of entrepreneurship by using rigorous statistical and econometric techniques to exploit the invaluable research infrastructure that is the database of GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor), generated from 72,000 questionnaires, interviews with experts, and international macroeconomic, demographic and social data (from sources like the OECD, IMF, UN, etc.) on participating countries.

DESCRIPTION

The analysis will be conducted at two levels:
a) a comparative study of entrepreneurship -its differential characteristics and interaction with the economic, cultural, political, social and institutional background- in the EU and Latin America

b) an in-depth study of Spanish entrepreneurship, enlarging on the GEM sample to gather comparative regional data that facilitates better targeted policy actions.

This research work will redress the lack of empirical studies into how best to promote entrepreneurship, having regard to the singularities of each country.
