DESCRIPTION
The aim is to evaluate the processes of demographic agglomeration and dispersion in Spain and to examine how they relate to the location of economic activity. The project has a three-stage structure: creation of a homogeneous database of Spanish municipalities sourced from the population censuses of the National Statistics Office; identification of development trends in territorial location and analysis of agglomeration processes and saturation symptoms in major urban centres and, finally, connecting this demographic information with the distribution of economic activity at local, provincial and regional level.
The results will be of use in studying infrastructure and service needs in the public (transport, healthcare, education, social services) and private domains.
