The fruit of a lecture cycle on the history of Bilbao organized by the City Council and the BBVA Foundation to mark the 700th anniversary of the city’s foundation. This book looks back at the historical tradition of the city of Bilbao.

It traces the development of the metropolis chronologically from the year 1300 to the present day in an entertaining and informative manner. It also pans out to the major transformations sweeping Basque society and Spain as a whole at key points in its history.
