Collocations in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics / Las colocaciones en la lingüística teórica y aplicada
From Classical to Romance Languages / De las lenguas clásicas a las lenguas romances
The main novelty of this monograph lies in a multidisciplinary approach to verb-noun collocations (or support verb constructions in a broad sense) in classical languages that emphasizes the importance of these constructions with regard to a number of different although related linguistic areas. The volume includes eleven contributions by notable experts in the field, grouped together in the three main sections defining the book’s structure.
The first section provides an analysis of Latin collocations from both typological and cognitive linguistic approaches. The second section deals with Latin collocations from linguistic fields as diverse as pragmatics, translation, stylistics or didactics. The third and final section of this monograph comprises the diachronic studies: the first two cover specific aspects of their renewal in Postclassical Greek and in the evolution from Latin to the Romance languages, whereas the last one provides an overview of diachronic studies of Verb-noun collocations in Spanish.
This book is the result of the project Online Dictionary of Latin Collocations of the LOGOS Program of Research in Classical Studies 2019, promoted in collaboration with the SEEC (Spanish Society of Classical Studies).
