Formación, transición digital y calidad de vida de los mayores en España
This monograph looks at how training can modify the effects of population ageing in Spain, with a focus on prolonging working life, the quality of life of the older population and harnessing the opportunities brought by the digital economy.
It takes an innovative approach to exploring the relationship between elderly training and quality of life, applying a rigorous methodology based on microdata from a range of statistical sources. The results offer a detailed, up-to-date picture of the impact of training on multiple dimensions of older people’s wellbeing, from physical and emotional health to employability and social inclusion.
The underlying research uses econometric techniques, combining descriptive analysis and statistical modeling based on individual microdata from national surveys. Among its main conclusions are that elderly people with more skills participate more actively in the labor market, enjoy better health and emotional and material wellbeing, and are less at risk of poverty.
Training is found to be a key factor in improving older people’s quality of life and maintaining them within the workforce, with particular regard to the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy. This supports the implementation of public policies and private initiatives aimed at reducing educational gaps and promoting lifelong learning among the elderly population.
This publication will be useful for researchers and policymakers in the areas of education, employment, health and welfare. It will also be of interest to the managers and teaching staff of educational centers, employers, older workers and their families, and the young people who will be the elderly of tomorrow, as well as appealing to a broader readership including media professionals.
