Shared ATM Networks and Banking Competition

A quick overview of financial magazines, periodicals and banking leaflets reveals that banks very commonly publicize the size of their ATM network. This study analyzes the incentives of banks to share their ATM network when they are imperfect competitors in the deposit market. The model of banking competition constructed in the study emphasizes the distinctive characteristics of the compatibility of these ATMs.
