Acceptance speech: 18th Frontiers of Knowledge Awards in Biology and Biomedicine

Acceptance speech by Michel Sadelain, winner of the 2025 Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Biology and Biomedicine, who was honored alongside Carl H. June for their groundbreaking complementary studies in the development of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T) for the treatment of patients with different types of blood cancer, such as leukemia.

Sadelain explains the development of CAR-T therapies, which are based on programming cells of the immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells. He highlights their efficacy against different hematological cancers and the rapid growth of their potential applications in solid tumors, autoimmune diseases, neurological disorders, transplantation, infections and diseases associated with cellular aging.
