Michael Benedikt, PhD in Accelerator Physics from the University of Vienna, and José Miguel Jiménez, Head of the Technology Department at CERN, present the Future Circular Collider (FCC), one of the main proposals for continuing particle physics research in the post-LHC era.
The conference examines possible designs for circular accelerators capable of extending the scientific frontiers reached by the Large Hadron Collider and the challenges involved in developing their accelerators and detectors. The speakers also address the need for decades of progress in engineering, technology and applied physics, as well as an internationally coordinated strategy and a strong scientific community to make an infrastructure of this scale possible.

The BBVA Foundation and CERN jointly organise the lecture series “CERN Restarts the LHC and Prepares for Its Future”. The programme addresses current and future challenges in particle physics, the restart of the accelerator at unprecedented energy levels and CERN’s strategy in high-energy and nuclear physics, as well as the role of technologies, computing systems and data processing in large-scale scientific infrastructures.
