“For me the most important thing is that my time, the time in which I have lived, is shown in my operas for future generations”

00 Introduction
05 In your operas, you often draw on contemporary literary authors as references, as you did with Gabriel García Márquez or Alessandro Baricco. How important is it for you to work with living authors?
24 You have written operas to librettos in German, Japanese, Russian, English and Italian, French, and Hungarian. Do you compose differently depending on the language?
25 You have said that before writing you prefer to get to know the musicians who will perform the pieces. Why is that?
04 Do you feel comfortable being identified as a figure who has managed to reconnect with audiences without losing an innovative and avant-garde language?
20 The jury highlights that you stand out as a composer, conductor, and educator. How important is this third dimension, that of teaching, to you?
